Enrollment
Time Line:
June -
December: Prospective parents should call to add their name to
the wait list for the
following September school year. The Director may close the wait
list once it reaches a certain limit.
January 1 - 15th:
The school re-enrolls current students and their younger siblings
(early enrollment). Early enrollment is offered to younger
siblings whose older sibling(s) attended Cornerstone Campus within the
last 3 years. To
participate in early enrollment
of a younger sibling, parents must contact the school in
the January
prior to the September in which they would like their child to
attend
school.
January 16th: Director
will send out email and postcard notification of an Open House which
will beheld in early February. The Open House will be by
invitation only to those families for whom an opening is
available. During the Open House parents can tour the school, meet the
staff, observe the teachers interacting wiht the children and learn
more about the school's educational philosophy ,policies, etc. Parents
can enroll at this time or take one week to
consider. We do ask that you contact the Director after one week with
your decision.
If you
chose to enroll your child, you will need to fill out a
Pre-registration form and pay a non-refundable $50 enrollment fee. This
payment and form are all you will need to reserve your child's spot
until the Tuition Agreement and first installment of tuition are due on
Aug.1. You will receive a reminder letter about this payment in
mid-July.
March-June: Typically all sessions
will be
filled for the
following school year by
May, but parents are welcome to stay on the wait list in the event that
an enrolled child is withdrawn.

| Q. My name is on the wait list and I just
learned that the sessions are full for the 2010/2011 school year.
Will my name automatically be carried over to the 2011/2012 waiting
list? |
| A. No! If you are interested in enrolling
your child for the 2010/2011 school year, you must call the
Director on or after June 8, and specify that you would like
your name to be carried over from the 2009/2010 waiting
list. Names carried over from the 2009/1010 list will be
given precedence for the 2010/2011 wait list. |
| Q. How do I add my child's name to the
2011/2012
school year? |
| A. We began
taking
names for the 2011/2012 school year as of June 21, 2010. If you
are already on the 2010/2011 list and would like to continue on the
2011/2011 list, you must reconfirm this with the Director on or after
June 21, 2010. Your name will
not be
carried over automatically. If you would like to join the waiting
list, please
call the school and leave a message for the director. Please note -
leaving a message on the school phone is not sufficient to get on the
waiting list but it will get you a call back from the director. Once
you have spoken directly with the director, you can join the list. |
| Q. If
I send an
email with my contact information can my child's name be added to the
wait list? |
| A. No, it is important to speak directly with the
director. It gives us a chance to learn more about your child and your
expectations for her preschool experience. After that initial
conversation, you are welcome to use email as your preferred method of
communication with the school. |
| Q. Why am I placed on a wait list if I have
contacted the school a full year in advance? |
| A. Until we re-enroll current students and their
younger siblings in January, we do not know how many openings
will
be available for new children. That is why we can only take names and
contact information until February, when we are ready to begin
enrollment of new children. |
| Q. Is there anything I can do to maximize my
chances of obtaining an opening for my child? |
| A.If you can be flexible about the session (i.e.
2-day or 3-day), it will be easier to obtain an opening for your child.
Generally, there are more openings in the 3 year-old program and
in the Tues/Thurs 4 year-old program. |
| Q. My older child attended Cornerstone Campus
6 years ago. Will I be able to enroll my current preschooler early, as
a younger sibling? |
| A. Early enrollment is offered to younger
siblings whose older sibling(s) attended Cornerstone Campus within the
last 3 years. To participate in
early enrollment of a younger sibling, parents must
contact the school in the January prior to the September in which
they would like their child to start school. Parents who
contact the school after Jan. 31st, will be added to the wait
list. |
| Q. Do
I tour the school
with or without my child? Is it okay to bring younger siblings or other
family members? |
A. You are welcome to make this decision
based on your personal preference. If you chose to tour the school
without your child, you may feel less distracted as you observe
the class and speak with the Director. However, bringing your child to
the school gives you the opportunity to see how she reacts to the new
environment. At some point, we do want to meet your child if you
enroll him, so we will make arrangements for him to visit the
school another time if he did not participate in the first visit.
Younger siblings are always welcome as well as any family members you
would like to include, particularly if they are your child's caregivers. |
| Q. My child will turn 4 in
the fall - do I enroll her in the 3 year-old class or the 4 year-old
class? |
| A. Decisions
regarding placement of children who
are approaching 4 years of age when the school year begins are made on
a case by case basis, taking into consideration availability, parent
preference,
child's personality and previous experiences in a group
setting. We have no hard and fast rules, we just try to find the best
fit for each child. |
